Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Adelaide (D)
On arrival in Adelaide you will be transferred by private car to your hotel. This afternoon join a local food expert for a guided tour of the 140 year old Adelaide Market. Enjoy the hustle and bustle, sample the culinary delights, meet the traders and share the history and the secrets of the Market. Relax with your Tour Director and fellow travellers at a Welcome Reception and dinner.
Overnight: Stamford Plaza Hotel, Adelaide

Day 2: Adelaide to Flinders Ranges (B,D)
Today we make our way north and sample some local wines at the Jesuit owned Sevenhill Cellars, the oldest existing winery in the Clare Valley. Travel through the spectacular Flinders Ranges to Wilpena Pound, a remarkable natural amphitheatre covering nearly 8,000 hectares.

Day 3: Flinders Ranges to Port Augusta (B,D)
Take a spectacular walk to Hills Homestead and Wangarra Lookout for incredible view of Wilpena Pound, before we travel through picturesque Pitchi Richi Pass & Quorn on the way to Port Augusta where we will visit the Wadlata Outback Centre then venture to Cena on Chapel for dinner.

Day 4: Port Augusta to Coober Pedy (B,D)
Visit Woomera then Coober Pedy, the opal capital! Visit an underground church and home.
Overnight: Desert Cave Hotel, Coober Pedy

Day 5: Coober Pedy to Uluru (Ayers Rock) (B)
We cross the border into the Northern Territory and continue to Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park. This evening enjoy nibbles & sparkling wine as the sun sets and the evening sky brings out the many shades of colour for which Uluru is renowned.

Day 6: Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) (B)
See the Red Centre set alight by the morning’s first rays of sunlight. After sunrise tour the base of Uluru enjoy a guided walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole. Visit Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre where there is time to purchase Aboriginal art and learn more about the Western Desert region. This afternoon visit the spectacular domes of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and walk through Walpa Gorge. Take in a magnificent outback sunset at Kata Tjuta while you enjoy sparkling wine.

Day 7: Uluru (Ayers Rock) to Kings Canyon (B,D)
Travel to Kings Canyon Resort. On the way, marvel at Atila (Mt. Conner), the ‘forgotten wonder of Central Australia’ and stop for a lunch break at Kings Creek Station. Originally vacant crown land, the station now runs cattle and is the largest exporter of wild camels in Australia. Learn the intriguing story of owners, Ian and Lynn Conway, and their dedication to Aboriginal children in the region’s remote communities. Why not taste one of their famous camel burgers for lunch? You don’t want to miss out! Now get ready for spectacular sightseeing. You’re off on a 6km rim walk exploration of Kings Canyon, which will reward you with marvellous views of Watarrka National Park, where you’ll be able to see as far as the horizon and get a real feel for the grand scale of this natural wonder. An easier walk along the boulder-strewn canyon floor is also available.

Day 8: Kings Canyon to Alice Springs (B)
Today we journey to Alice Springs. Travel across vast cattle properties and get a feel for just how expansive Australia’s outback is. In Alice Springs visit the historic Telegraph Station, established in 1872. It first served as one of 12 stations positioned along the Overland Telegraph Line that stretches 3,000km to relay messages between Adelaide and Darwin. It later served as a school for Aboriginal children, known as ‘The Bungalow’. Top off the day at Anzac Hill for panoramic views over Alice Springs.

Day 9: Aboriginal Culture (B,D)
Learn about the life and survival of the Arrernte People, including the search for water, bush food, and kinship, from a local Aboriginal guide at Alice Springs Desert Park. Visit the Nocturnal House and enjoy a captivating Birds of Prey presentation. Continue to the Royal Flying Doctor Service and learn how the facility brings first class health services to people living in the bush. Join Joe, Dan, Tommy and Ben Falzon for a home cooked gourmet Be My Guest BBQ dinner at Earth Sanctuary World Nature Centre. Share stories of ecology, culture and astronomy with the Falzon family and they may even lead you in a sing-a-long, accompanied by the didgeridoo and guitar. It will be a night to remember.

Day 10: Depart Alice Springs (B)
Your tour concludes this morning after breakfast. You will be transferred to Darwin Airport to connect with your onward flight.
