Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Adelaide (D)
On arrival in Adelaide you will be transferred by private car to your hotel. This afternoon join a local food expert for a guided tour of the 140 year old Adelaide Market. Enjoy the hustle and bustle, sample the culinary delights, meet the traders and share the history and the secrets of the Market. Relax with your Tour Director and fellow travellers at a Welcome Reception and dinner.

Day 2: Adelaide to Flinders Ranges (B,D)
Today we make our way north and sample some local wines at the Jesuit owned Sevenhill Cellars, the oldest existing winery in the Clare Valley. Travel through the spectacular Flinders Ranges to Wilpena Pound, a remarkable natural amphitheatre covering nearly 8,000 hectares.

Day 3: Flinders Ranges to Port Augusta (B,D)
Take a spectacular walk to Hills Homestead and Wangarra Lookout for incredible view of Wilpena Pound, before we travel through picturesque Pitchi Richi Pass & Quorn on the way to Port Augusta where we will visit the Wadlata Outback Centre then venture to Cena on Chapel for a delicious dinner.

Day 4: Port Augusta to Coober Pedy (B,D)
Visit Woomera before travelling to isolated Coober Pedy, the opal capital! Visit an underground church and home.
Overnight: Desert Cave Hotel, Coober Pedy

Day 5: Coober Pedy to Uluru (Ayers Rock) (B)
We cross the border into the Northern Territory and continue to Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park. This evening enjoy a nibbles & sparkling wine as the sun sets and the evening sky brings out the many shades of colour for which Uluru is renowned.

Day 6: Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) (B)
Rise early to view sunrise at Uluru. Join a guided walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole and stop at the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. Visit Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and Walpa Gorge. Taki in the magnificent outback sunset at Kata Tjuta while you enjoy sparkling wine & nibbles.

Day 7: Uluru (Ayers Rock) to Kings Canyon (B,D)
Travel to Kings Canyon. On the way marvel at Atila (Mt. Conner) the ‘forgotten wonder of Central Australia’. Continue to Kings Creek Station. Established in 1982 by Ian and Lyn Conway, the station was originally vacant crown land and covers an area of 1,800 square kilometres. It runs cattle and is the largest exporter of wild camels in Australia. Now get ready for spectacular sightseeing. You’re off on a 6km rim walk exploration of Kings Canyon, which will reward you with marvellous views of Watarrka National Park. Or if you’d prefer a more relaxed walk, take the easier option along the boulder-strewn canyon floor.

Day 8: Kings Canyon to Alice Springs (B)
Leaving Watarrka behind, you’ll travel to Alice Springs. First stop a visit to the Telegraph Station, the first site of European settlement, which was established in 1872 to relay messages between Darwin and Adelaide. It later served as a school for Aboriginal Children and was known as “the Bungalow” . We top off the day with a visit to Anzac Hill for panoramic views over Alice Springs and the surrounding ranges.

Day 9: Aboriginal Culture (B,D)
Spend time with a local Aboriginal guide at the Alice Springs Desert Park. You will learn of the life and survival of the Arrernte People, including bush food, the search for water and kinship. Visit the Nocturnal House and enjoy a Birds of Prey Presentation. Continue on to the Royal Flying Doctors Service and learn how the facility brings first class heath services to people living in the bush. This evening join us on a discovery tour at the Earth Sanctuary World Nature Centre. You’re invited to a barbecue dinner and afterwards hear from the Falzon brothers, Tom and Danny, about the sustainable lifestyle they have established.

Day 10: Alice Springs to Tennant Creek (B,D)
Your first stop is the School of the Air. Witness a live class room lesson broadcast over 1.3 million square kilometres, to children living in remote locations who would otherwise have no access to public education. Then travel north to Tennent Creek stopping at the interesting Wycliffe. Well on the way to visit Karlu Karlu (Devils Marbles). There is time to walk around these precariously balanced boulders.

Day 11: Tennant Creek to Katherine (B,D)
Travel across vast outback stations. Visit the historic Daly Waters Hotel before continuing on to Mataranka, ‘Land of the Never Never’. On arrival at Mataranka Homestead you can take time to visit the replica of the original Elsey Homestead, used in the filming of ‘We of the Never Never’. Alternatively, you may take the beautiful palm lined walkway for a swim in the famous thermal springs before we travel onto Katherine for the night.

Day 12: Katherine to Kakadu (B,D)
We join our local guide on an early morning cruise through Katherine Gorge. You have the opportunity to see wildlife and Aboriginal rock art. Our cruise through the gorge takes us past sheer sandstone walls and all manner of flora and fauna. We then continue deep into Kakadu National Park. Join a cruise on the famous Yellow Water Billabong. Ubirr and view Aboriginal rock art dating back some 20,000 years. This afternoon you will have the opportunity to take an optional flight over Kakadu and Arnhem Land.
Overnight: Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel, Jabiru

Day 13: Kakadu to Darwin (B)
This morning visit Ubirr and view Aboriginal rock art dating 20,000 years Climb to the top and be rewarded with superb views of the surrounding wetlands and escarpment country. This afternoon on arrival into Darwin, you can choose from a range of Included Choice sightseeing experiences. Visit Mindil Beach Sunset Markets or Crocosaurus Cove. Alternatively you can sit back and relax at Darwin famous Deckchair Cinema.
Overnight: Mantra on the Esplanade, Darwin

Day 14: Litchfield National Park (B,D)
This morning travel to Litchfield National Park. You’ll stop at the amazing Termite Mounds and then Florence Falls to view the famous plunge pool from a high vantage point. Venture on to tropical Wangi Falls for a relaxing swim. This evening you will enjoy a delicious buffet dinner on board a Darwin Harbour Cruise.
Overnight: Mantra on the Espanade, Darwin

Day 15: Depart Darwin    (B)
Your tour concludes this morning after breakfast. You will be transferred to Darwin Airport to connect with your onward flight.
