Tour Itinerary

Day 1:  Arrive Cairns
Fly from homeport to Cairns. On arrival please make your own way to your accommodation. The remainder of the day is free.
Overnight: Queens Court or Cairns Pacific, Cairns

Day 2:  Cairns Sightseeing  (CB, AT)
Morning free. Discover the very best of Cairns and it’s surrounds as you explore the highlights with your experienced local guide. Your half-day afternoon tour begins at the waters edge, Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. Explore Cairns and delve into the city’s history, its people, amazing Flecker botanical gardens, waterfalls and beaches. Cairns offers a rich cultural heritage and a unique variety of plant life, which creates a habitat perfect for an unbelievable array of amazing species of native birds, butterflies and reptiles. Indulge in a delicious afternoon Devonshire Tea and delight in the stunning views from the jetty at beautiful Palm Cove. Everything about this tour experience is designed to delight discerning travellers of all ages and interests.

Day 3: Day at leisure  (CB)
Relax around the pool or take the opportunity to wander through Cairns City and wharf precinct.

Day 4: Kuranda Scenic Railway, Kuranda, Skyrail, Rainforestation  (CB & L)
Travel to Kuranda aboard the Kuranda Scenic Railway, one of the world’s most spectacular railways. Free time to explore Kuranda Village. Visit the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary and experience the magic of Australia’s largest live butterfly exhibit (optional tour at own cost, special discount applies). Visit the award winning Rainforestation Nature Park and experience the amphibious Army Duck Tour of the rainforest, wander through the Tropical Fruit Orchard, enjoy the powerful performance of the Pamagirri Aboriginal  Dancers in the rainforest amphitheatre, join your Pamagirri Guide on the Dreamtime Walk for spear throwing and didgeridoo  demonstrations, try your hand at boomerang throwing and get up close to the animals in the Koala and Wildlife Park – Cuddle a  Koala – photo opportunity (photo optional extra).  Return to Cairns on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and glide silently over 7.5km of pristine World Heritage Rainforest in gondola cabins.

Day 6: Cairns to Cape Tribulation   (CB & L)
This morning you will be collected from your accommodation by our industry partner Billy Tea Bush Safaris. Travel north along the scenic route to Mossman, lush farmland contrasts with seascape as we approach the majestic Daintree River. A short morning tea break, then its ‘all aboard’ for an informative one hour river cruise. Relax and enjoy the splendour only the Daintree can offer as you learn of Estuarine Crocodiles, mangrove forests and wildlife, this is nature at its best! We ascend the Alexandra Range and pause for a panoramic view of World Heritage Tropical Rainforest merging with the azure colours of the Coral Sea. Experience the rainforest intimately on our elevated National Park Boardwalk. Accurate interpretations of flora and fauna will given with ample time for photographs and questions as we search for the elusive, rare and totally unique Southern Cassowary and other wildlife. A delicious barbecue lunch with freshly prepared salads is served while you have the opportunity to hand feed a kangaroo and enjoy a cold drink from the bar. Our tour does a little more. It takes us beyond Cape Tribulation along the 4WD Bloomfield Track to pristine Emmagen Creek and time for a refreshing rainforest stream swim. Seek fish and turtles in the creek, butterflies and exotic birds in the trees and indulge in a feast of tropical fruit, a complimentary glass of wine and a cup of traditional Billy Tea, all of which enhance the tranquil surroundings. At Cape Tribulation Beach there is a little time to swim in the Coral Sea (seasonal) or stroll along the beach and boardwalk to the photographers’ platform overlooking the mountains and coast where the ‘Rainforest meets the Reef’. You will be taken to your overnight accommodation at The Daintree Heritage Lodge and Spa, in Cape Tribulation where the remainder of the day and evening is at your leisure.

Day 7: Cape Tribulation to Cooktown  (CB & L)
This morning join us for a delicious morning tea before your journey with Adventure North Australia will continue to Cooktown-The Last Frontier of North Queensland. The 4WD only Bloomfield Track allows you to travel through the heart of this World Heritage Listed area providing incredible glimpses of Australia hard to imagine. Travel over rugged mountain ranges and river crossings. Visit The Bana Yirriji Art and Cultural Centre, Wujal Wujal, which is located on the banks of the Bloomfield River with an opportunity to visit and talk with local Indigenous artists. Enjoy lunch before continuing north to visit the infamous and quirky Lion’s Den Hotel one of Queensland’s landmark pubs, built in 1875 made of timber and iron. A short distance sees the unique geological oddity, which is Black Mountain. Ascend Grassy Hill for the spectacular panoramic views of the Endeavour River, Coral Sea and Cooktown. Have your camera ready!

Day 8: Cooktown to Cairns  (CB)
A free day to explore Cooktown, visit the World Class James Cook Museum or stroll along the shores of the Endeavour River. The unique charm and historic atmosphere of the main street still prevail. You can experience the un-spoilt beauty of the area, which remains much the same as when Captain Cook knew it in 1770. This afternoon depart Cooktown via the inland road, The Mulligan Highway, travelling through a diverse landscape of cattle stations and the Palmer River Gold mine region, which is the Outback of Far North Queensland. Meal break (at your own expense) on the return journey as your tour wandering in Tropical North Queensland comes to a close and transferred to your chosen accommodation in Port Douglas or Cairns.

Day 9:  Day at leisure  (CB)

Luggage

Luggage space is very limited on the safari sector of your experience. Please limit this to one small soft travel bag (typically 300mm x 300mm x 700mm) and a small daypack (cabin baggage). A maximum weight limit of 10kg is permitted due to limitations and Workplace Health & Safety requirements.

It is a privately owned and managed hotel, catering for the holiday maker or corporate traveller. It is ideally located within the city centre, close to the vibrant Esplanade and main business centres.
